Rafting trips on Merced River: Rafting season on the Merced will continue through July 13. With river levels down from their peak, most trips now are half day affairs, and perfect for families. Since the starting point is just a few miles from the Arch Rock entrance, it's easy to combine your rafting adventure with a visit to Yosemite. More info, click here.
Author Presentation: On the evening of July 27, 1985, 5 hikers made the fateful choice to hike Half Dome even as the sky darkened and thunder rolled. By night's end, two were dead from lightening, three gravely wounded. Saturday, July 12, at Mariposa's Windows on the World bookstore, author Bob Madgic will present a program based on Shattered Air, his book describing that day's events and the harrowing midnight helicopter rescue that saved three survivors. More info, click here.
Mariposa Evenings Music Performances: Enjoy free music performances at Mariposa's downtown Arts Park. Shows start at 7PM. Bring your lawn chair or blanket, and a snack or drink, and enjoy a relaxed evening. For schedule, see our Calendar of Events.
Raft Through Yosemite Valley: Enjoy a leisurely three mile float on the Merced River through the heart of Yosemite Valley (this is completely different from the white water adventures described above). You can rent rafts, paddles and life jackets at the Curry Village Recreation Center. More info, click here.
